SCRIPTURE Mark 13:13 “And ye shall be hated of all [men] for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”  

COMMENTARY Jesus is speaking to His inner circle here, “Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew” (Mark 13:3).  He tells them, the most devout and faithful of His followers, that they have to “endure unto the end” to be saved. “The end” can only mean physical death or rapture.  Jesus clearly makes enduring (holding fast to their faith in word and deed) their responsibility even if aided by God. The idea that somehow this requirement does not apply to believers today makes a mockery of this clear teaching of Jesus.  How did we (according to guaranteed, unconditional eternal security proponents) become elevated to a class more valued by God than these four?
