SCRIPTURE Ezekiel 18:24–26 “But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.  Yet ye say, the way of the Lord is not equal.  Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?  When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.”  

COMMENTARY In this passage, the Lord God Himself is speaking to Ezekiel, warning him about the loss of spiritual life which results from turning to a life of sin and dying without repenting.  The doctrine of guaranteed, unconditional eternal security says this cannot happen.  In this passage, God disagrees. Again, we are reminded that these are not threats against physical life because we all die.  In other words, it is not the case that if we do what is right, our bodies will live forever. Furthermore this is a spiritual principle meaning that it is the way in which God deals with the righteous and the unrighteous. This might sound like a case for abiding in the law instead of Christ. But that is not the case. Even the OT saints sinned. The key here as in other places are those who continue to willfully practice sin without repentance. Remember here in Ezekiel they are turning away, not stumbling but still facing the correct way.
